In 1978 i was a young lady in my early twenties living in West Germany. I lived with my parents, my father was a military serviceman. Our home was a hive of activity with three younger sibblings in the house.
The military base was situated in a small town called Bergen near Hohne.
This town may have been very small but the history behind it was emmence.
A few miles to the north of the town was the second world war concentration camp known as "Belsen" Thousands of Jews lost there lives here.
My first visit to the camp was extremely emotional. I was over whelmed by the experience and the feelings i felt will remain with me for the rest of my life. There is a small museum just before you enter the main gates, with many photographes and images of the attrocities that happened there. Not all the photographes were of saddness, many showed the Allied forces liberating the camp and those who had the strength to greet them did so with such joy
and emotion.
I visited Belsen numerous times, please do not ask me why! I just felt a need to go there. As I entered the main gates and made my way along the pebbled pathway, beautiful trees and flower beds scented the air. There was an eiry silence! Not a sound, just the gentle breeze rustling the trees. It is a well known fact that birds do not sing in the grounds of Belsen.
At the end of the pathway you come to a vast area, very open and welll presented. Your eyes are drawn to the mounds of earth covered in white and purple heather. Small brass placques read 2,500 buried here and 5,000 buried here. I have always been a sensitive spiritual person. I always felt a very strong pressence as i walked slowly amongst the burial sites. It was a knowing that the spirit of those who were there wanted to be acknowledged, and how could i ignor them. Never!! My purpose as a spiritualist and channel is to help and bring comfort to those who need it whether in spirit or on the earth side of life.
I remember on one occasion taking a small piece of heather and placing it in a small hankerchief. I still have the heather, its placed in a small book of verse.
I have always known that the my parents flat in Bergen was buillt on part of the site, you could see part of the old dis-used railway track close by.
Whilst meditating i could see a young person stood in front of me crying, their hair was being tugged and cut. I reached out to them, they stepped away from the sizzors, smiled and disappeared into the light.
As time passed i found myself having similar experiences with spirit. I felt that working for spirit was and is my vocation.
I have spent many years serving spirit. Not only in churches and centres but in the community also. I love what i do and the happiness it brings to others.
